Is Mary Landrieu a political prostitute or political martyr?
Published: Tuesday, November 24, 2009
Senator Mary L. Landrieu (D-La.) recently sparked an uproar over her brokering of $300 million dollars for Louisiana in exchange for her vote to bring the health-care bill to the floor of the Senate. As a resident of Louisiana, I’m not offended—instead, I would like to thank her. Landrieu is not apologetic for her request, and there is no reason she should be. In fact, in a more just world Louisiana would be compensated for much more than $300 million.
…
Despite these statements, GOP backlash against the senator has been fierce. Some Republicans have called Landrieu a political prostitute, even labeling her the Magnolia Madame—ironic because it was not Landrieu, but rather a Republican senator from Louisiana, who was recently involved in a not-so-figurative prostitution ring. Landrieu should not be considered a “prostitute” in any sense; judging by her actions, “martyr” would be a more correct word.
New Orleans Adult Entertainment: Video: Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh call Senator Mary Landrieu a prostitute …

…
Liberals immediately accused Limbaugh and Beck of using sexist language in their attack saying that both would not make the same kind of attack on a male Senator. In addition many may say the reference to Landrieu as a prostitute is over-the-top. Nearly every Senator secures special favors for their home state at some point in their tenure. Indeed in representing the interests of their state each Senator can almost be expected to pursue what is best for their state. If anyone deserves condemnation for the aid given to Louisiana it would be the Democratic leadership who provided for the aid in the bill.
The prostitute analogy also seems to not match up on a number of accounts. A prostitute sells her body for money whereas Landrieu allegedly sold her vote for aid to her state. Landrieu’s move can certainly be questioned on ethical grounds but to compare her to a prostitute seems ingenious to liberals.

New Orleans Adult Entertainment: Nicolas Cage Tackles Surprising Role in Werner Herzog’s ‘Bad Lieutenant’
November 23, 2009
Cage’s cynical, drug-addled, compulsively gambling policeman, compared to his recent nauseating roles in “National Treasure” or “Wicker Man,” is unexpectedly good. His limp, hunched back, ceaseless cursing and contemptuous snarl lend his performance a seductive wickedness. Even as he’s committing unspeakable acts, you can’t help but like him. Sure, McDonagh has sex with a young man’s girlfriend while forcing him to watch as they hit the young man’s crack pipe, and yes, he brandishes a gun at a pair of octogenarian women, needlessly threatening to kill them.
But in doing so, Cage conjures up the blackest kind of comedy, winning you over even though you know he’s an unredeemable asshole. Eva Mendes’ turn as McDonagh’s sultry prostitute girlfriend and Xzibit’s solid take on Big Fate, a suave, drug kingpin, both prop up the film nicely. But this is Cage’s film, and his maniacal performance crackles all over the screen.
Detective Terence McDonagh (Cage) stands in a rapidly flooding New Orleans jail with his partner Stevie Pruit (Val Kilmer). Flood waters from Hurricane Katrina are rising and a lone prisoner is trapped in a cell mere moments away from drowning. Pruit votes to leave him for the coroner, but McDonagh is a better cop than that and decides to jump in to save the felon. The leap wrenches his back out and one year later that good cop now has an addiction to pain pills, a prostitute girlfriend (Eva Mendes), and the moral compass of a Water Moccasin. He and Pruit are tasked with finding the killers of an entire family of Senegalese immigrants, and the search leads them to a drug dealer named Big Fate (Xzibit). When not working on the case, McDonagh spends his time harassing night-club patrons for drugs and the occasional quickie as well as interfering with his girlfriend’s business. It’s not long before McDonagh finds himself in trouble with the drug dealers, some low level mobsters, and Internal Affairs. What’s a morally bankrupt cop have to do to survive in a post-Katrina Big Easy anyway?
New Orleans Adult Entertainment: The Louisiana (Vote) Purchase
November 22, 2009
The Louisiana (Vote) Purchase
U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-Louisiana) is one of four swing votes in the upcoming Senate deliberations on President Barack Obama’s socialized medicine proposal.
As such, she’s “solid gold real estate” for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid – who cannot afford even a single democratic defection if he intends to ram Obamacare through the U.S. Senate the way Speaker Nancy Pelosi narrowly pushed it through the U.S. House.
Reid’s solution?
Well, in addition to pimping fictitious budget and cost estimates related to the bill, he’s flat out bribing her.
On page 432 of the 2,074 page Senate Obamacare bill, there is a provision increasing federal Medicaid subsidies for “certain states recovering from a major disaster.” Specifically, the subsidies apply only to states which “during the preceding 7 fiscal years” have been declared a “major disaster area.”

New Orleans Escorts: Senate Democrats secure votes needed to bypass health reform filibuster
November 22, 2009
There is an overabundance of techology that CAUSES DISEASES, by manufacturing the NEED to keep the medical profession going. The claim that “sick people spread diseases” is a glaringly not-well-thought-out statement. This goes more deeply into germ theory and intimate behavior. More importantly, how does “technology” decide for a person their own lifestyle/behavior choices? The “Venus Project” is decidedly “The few deciding for the many.” An individual gathers information and resources on his/her own volition. Vodka or Veggies?
The statement “Being healthy is mostly based on medicine and knowledge” proclaims that one entity has medicine and knowledge that they claim the “sick people” can’t live without. Fuck you elitist professors!!!! I want my decent, well-paying job, my own book collection, my own personal medicines, my own choice of relationships, and goddammit, COLD HARD CASH and not an RFID MICROCHIP bank/health/prostitute account.

New Orleans Adult Entertainment: obamacare Bill in the Senate
November 21, 2009
The comments to this article are an excellent gauge of how angry voters are becoming with the demonstrated indifference and total disregard of their best interest and their will for these elected officials to vote against this “ObamaAbomination”:
“Bought and paid for with my tax dollars! You Democrats make the “Culture of Corruption” you pegged the Republicans as look like child’s play! BY Diane on 11/21/2009 at 14:44 “
“Not surprising, another liberal Democratic sellout. I guess she has had mammogram already. We the People will still fight this insanity! BY Steve on 11/21/2009 at 14:45″
“Memo to Lincoln: na na na hey hey hey good bye! We will vote you out of office! Hope you have a nice cushy lobbyist job lined up. BY Reality check on 11/21/2009 at 14:48 “
“Is Blanche courageous or bribed??? BY Tim on 11/21/2009 at 14:51 “
“Are all the democrat prostitutes getting sweetheart deals?! BY BOUGHT AND PAID on 11/21/2009 at 14:51 “
McDonagh becomes more and more unhinged as the movie progresses, as he owes more and more money to his bookie (the wonderfully slimy Brad Dourif), as his prostitute girlfriend (Eva Mendes) gets in trouble with organized criminals, and he fails to make sufficient progress in solving the murder of a family of Senagalese immigrants whose father was involved in the drug trade. Cage, who has made a career in recent years out of his scene-chewing excess, is given free reign by Herzog to play it as over the top as he wants; the result is a performance as deliriously nutso as his manic turn in Wild at Heart. Herzog, no stranger to bringing out the inner maniac in his leading men after so many films with Klaus Kinski, allows Cage to dance right up to the edge of self-mockery, and then tumble right on over.

With or without the help of his also-using prostitute girlfriend (Eva Mendes, channeling her character from We Own The Night), McDonagh scores enough for 10 junkies, shaking down club kids, short-changing the evidence room drug bags, etc.
