New Orleans Strip Clubs: Poole: Warriors’ Randolph grows stronger
October 23, 2009
We provide this background as a means of addressing Randolph’s remarkable evolution as a man and athlete. He is coming off a season in which he flashed enough sensational moments to drop jaws around the NBA.
Randolph’s journey from adolescent Big Stiff to young adult centerpiece is a testament to his insane drive. Through three high schools, to one season at LSU to 14th overall pick in the 2008 draft, the constant was a desire that never ebbs.
He spent most of the summer rising at dawn and driving from Walnut Creek to Oakland, entering the Warriors downtown facility to work with trainers before taking to the floor and trying to wear it out. He chose to do this, rather than spend generous portions of his handsome salary on boy toys or at strip clubs.

Strip Club Barker Ban in NOLA, Indiana Casinos Fear Competition and U.S. on Med. Marijuana
Barkers, the guys who stand on sidewalks or at an entrance calling for passersby to come inside and enjoy whatever, are the immediate salesmen for carnivals, sideshows and strip clubs. Without them, people could just keep on walking and not know the wonders that they might have missed.
If Amway or Mary Kay lost their salespeople or if UPS lost sales reps, Lots of Yuks lost its Times Square team (the people who constantly stop you to ask “Do you like comedy?” then try to sell you a comedy package of some sort) what would happen to the revenue?
It would probably decrease. Twenty-five years ago an ordinance was passed in New Orleans outlawing barkers in the French Quarter. In the recent past, enforcement has been lax. However, there is a new crackdown involving the city’s Alcohol Beverage Outlet Control Board and the New Orleans Police Department. One place was fined $500 and more may come.

When Katrina hit, I mourned. My nephew (who lives mostly with his father)
lost his house and had to move to Houston for several months. My sister, a
reporter for a local TV station, evacuated to my apartment in Boston for a few
days before returning to Louisiana to continue working and became the de facto
New Orleans bureau chief (because she lived in the French Quarter on high
ground, she was one of the only people at her station who had a place to go
home to every night; the rest of them operated out of a sister studio in
Mobile, AL, sleeping in a motel). A few weeks after the storm, I caught her on
the phone while she was at a strip club—the only people in town, she
explained, were National Guardsmen and reporters, so the only places open were
strip joints.

SICKLE CELL FACTORED INTO A.J. JEWELL DEATH?: Preliminary autopsy reports show Kandi’s ex had the blood disorder.
*TMZ.com is reporting that Sickle Cell Anemia may have played a significant role in the death of Ashley “A.J.” Jewell, the ex-fiancé of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burress.
Fulton County Associate Medical Examiner Dr. Kelly Rose tells TMZ preliminary autopsy results led her to believe that A.J., who died two weeks ago after a strip club brawl, suffered from the life long blood disorder that inhibits oxygen flow to tissues in the body.
Police say Ashley “A.J.” Jewell suffered severe head injuries during the fight at the Atlanta strip club Body Tap. He was rushed to Piedmont Hospital, and later died.

The city vehicles leave in the morning to go to work, and no one knows where the hell they are. Thats why we need the GPS system. … Its a tool to manage not only fuel costs and maintenance, but the productivity of the employees. This kind of behavior, I think, is unacceptable.

Jefferson Parish cracks down on hourly-rate motels
Associated Press – October 14, 2009 3:04 PM ET
GRETNA, La. (AP) – The Jefferson Parish Council adds penalties to its ordinance against renting rooms by the hour.
In a crackdown aimed at ousting prostitutes and drug dealers, the council decided unanimously Wednesday that motels violating the ordinance can get up to six months in jail and a $500 fine.
It also exempted motels within 1.7 miles of Louis Armstrong International Airport, for pilots and flight attendants resting during layovers.
The ordinance passed in January 2008 exempts motels within a quarter-mile of a hospital, for resting outpatients. It also allows hourly rates during major events such as the Super Bowl and Sugar Bowl.

Jefferson Parish cracks down on hourly-rate motels
October 14, 2009, 10:44AM
Cracking down on seedy motels deemed havens for prostitutes and drug dealers, the Jefferson Parish Council this morning enacted criminal penalties for renting out rooms by the hour.
Violators will face up to six months in jail and a $500 fine under an ordinance the council approved unanimously.
The ordinance also sets standards for motel rooms and allows authorities to move to rescind an establishment’s occupational license based on the number of code violations or drug and prostitution arrests on the property.
The council banned motels from renting rooms by the hour in January 2008, but the ordinance included no penalties.
The 2008 ordinance allowed motels to charge hourly rates during major events, including the Super Bowl and the Sugar Bowl, and exempted establishments within a quarter of a mile of a hospital so they can rent to patients seeking outpatient care nearby.
Metairie man booked with promoting prostitution
…
The charge stems from a June 26 encounter with deputies at the Sun Suites Extended Stay Hotel, 4409 Hearst St., Metairie. A deputy investigating drug and prostitution activity in the area arrested Jorge Leal, 42, of Jefferson and Serio. Leal was booked with drug possession with the intent to distribute while Serio was held on a outstanding theft warrant.
But Leal told investigators he was there on a “prostitution date” set up by Serio, an incident report said. Serio was going to send over a woman in exchange for some diazepam, an anti-anxiety drug sold under the brand name Valium.
Serio admitted to setting up the date, saying he did so to support a drug habit, the arrest report said. He has previous convictions for promoting prostitution, as well as theft. He could not be reached for comment Monday.

Reading between the lines in ‘The Ray Nagin Coloring Book’
October 09, 2009, 11:30AM
The satirical spirit of New Orleans humor is on full display in “The Ray Nagin Coloring Book,” the creation of local artist Karen Ocker (New Basin Press, $9.95).
A new coloring book features New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin. Some of Nagin’s more colorful quotable remarks are accompanied by Ocker’s witty line drawings.
It’s adult entertainment, for sure – remember “I stand before you, a vagina friendly mayor. I am in?” Or laugh at Nagin as a staggering mouse, laboring under a huge burden of cheese, , saying “I have change a lot and moved a lot of people’s cheese. See recovery czar Ed Blakely in bed with “Hizzoner,” saying “There will be cranes in the sky, buffoons,” while visions of birds dance above their heads.
