It’s been a rough week for Stormy Daniels. She got arrested last weekend on a domestic violence charge while her right-hand political guy, Brian Welsh, got his car blown up.
Daniels, of course, continues to flirt with a Louisiana senatorial run. As a porn star, she is a controversial political figure — even if she does run against current Republican Sen. David Vitter, who admitted his “sins” involving prostitutes.
Welsh was walking his dog when he saw smoke coming from the direction of his New Orleans apartment building. When he got there, firetrucks were hosing the blaze, and one of the firefighters asked, “Do you own an Audi?”
“Scariest five words of all time,” Welsh said with a laugh.
The New Orleans Fire Department is still investigating, but the message, Welsh says, is clear. “At first, I wondered if it was something electrical, but then I saw the surveillance tape; there’s a guy walking around my car, and then it blows up.”

“What we’re talking about and what we’ve been doing over the past few months is way too important to have it be deterred by the loss of a nice little car,” he said.
The fire happened at about 11:23 p.m. Thursday near the corner of Gaiennie and South Peters streets while Welsh says he and his wife were out walking their dog.
Two days later, on Saturday, Daniels was arrested for allegedly assaulting her husband. Welsh posted the YouTube videos and went on TV Monday.

(This politically sordid day is probably irretrievable at this point, anyway, so we’ll set the marker with some handicaps on this possible race:)
In Louisiana, Republican Sen. David Vitter could be somewhat vulnerable (or perhaps up in Louisiana polling) after his name turned up in a Washington prostitution ring two years ago. He can only hope for this opponent next year.
The porn-”star” also known as “Stormy Daniels” has launched a “listening tour” and opened an “exploratory committee” in consideration of a possible run for Vitter’s Senate seat.
A few complications:
She lives in Tampa, Fla., where she was arrested Saturday on a domestic violence battery charge for allegedly hitting her husband in a dispute over unpaid laundry bills. (five points.)

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — It’s been a tough week for Louisiana-born porn star and U.S. senator wannabe Stormy Daniels.
Daniels was arrested Saturday on a domestic violence battery charge after she allegedly hit her husband at their home in Tampa, Fla. Police said the dispute was about laundry and unpaid bills.
Her arrest came two days after her political adviser in Louisiana, Brian Welsh, said his 1996 Audi was blown up by someone on July 23 outside his apartment in an upscale downtown area of New Orleans.
Daniels has stirred up a U.S. Senate race in Louisiana after she said she was considering to run against the incumbent, Republican Sen. David Vitter. His family-values reputation was marred in 2007 when his name was linked to a Washington prostitution ring.

Daniels was charged with battery after she allegedly hit her husband, Michael Mosny, over the head with her hands. According to the police report, she was angry about a bill Mosny hadn’t paid and about the way his father had done the laundry. She broke a flower pot and a few glass candle holders, threw their wedding album on the floor and allegedly hit her husband while struggling to get the car keys from him. She denied hitting him intentionally.
Neither Mosny nor Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, were injured. Daniels was held overnight and released on $1,000 bond.
The porn star formed an exploratory committee in May, the first step in a possible Senate run against Sen. David Vitter (R-LA), whose social conservative reputation was tarnished by the D.C. Madam prostitution scandal.

JULY 29–In a setback to her nascent U.S. Senate campaign, porn star Stormy Daniels (real name: Stephanie Clifford) was arrested Saturday afternoon for domestic violence after she allegedly battered her husband because she was “upset because the way the laundry had been done.” Clifford, who has said she is interested in challenging Republican David Vitter next year for his Senate seat from Louisiana, was nabbed for striking her husband “Michael on his head with her hands several times,” according to a Tampa Bay Police Department report. Clifford, 30, told cops that she did not intentionally hit her husband, but acknowledged tossing a potted plant in the kitchen sink, throwing the couple’s wedding album on the floor, and breaking some candles. The adult film actress, pictured in the below mug shot, was briefly booked into the Hillsborough County jail, where she was later released on $1000 bond. Clifford, who decided to challenge Vitter after the incumbent admitted patronizing a prostitution ring, has formed an exploratory committee in her home state of Louisiana.
